Final Presentation

Io penso che Firenze è architettura. E parte della storia fiorentina è presente in pezzi di arte. Ci sono molti famosi edifici nella città di Firenze che sono molto belli. Firenze come molte città del Rinascimento sono state costruite in molti anni. E casa a numeroso chiese, edifici, e case costruite con architettura romanesce o gotica. Il Battistero di San Giovanni è creduto essere il più vecchio edifico a Firenze. E’ famoso per tre porte che sono fatte di bronzo. Queste porte descrivono scene del Nuovo e Vecchio Testamento. Il Duomo o Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore è la cattedrale di Firenze. Il Duomo è molto famoso perchè stato progettato da Brunelleschi dell duomo. La parte esterna è molto decorato e fatto di marmo di vario colore: verde, rosa, bianco. Il primo grande duomo è costruito in questo senso e ispiratio vicino al Pantheon a Roma. Le gallerie degli Uffizi sono uno dei piu vecchi e più famosi musei di arte nel mondo. E’ interessante la sua architettura allungata e a forma di U. Gli architetti hanno provato a non distruggere gli i edifici intorno agli Uffizi. Firenze è la sede della maggior parte, e miglio preservati, imporanti monumenti di architettura Rinascimentale nel mondo. Mi piace camminare lungo le strade ogni giorno e trovare una nuova chiesa o nuovo edifico considerati pezzi di arte.

San Croce Field Trip

Wednesday we had another field trip to the San Croce Church. This is a church in Florence that hold many tombs of some very famous people such as Dante, Donatello, and Michelangelo. The tombs were all very beautiful. The flood from many years ago destroyed a lot in this church so when we were there they had people working to repair and restore a lot that had gotten destroyed. My three favorite tombs were Beata Umilana de'Cerchi, A Gino Capponi, ad A G.B. Niccolini. They were all very large and amazing. Beata Umilana was worshipped in her living day for her virtures o modesty, charity, obidence and many miracles. The tomb of Niccolini resembled the Statue of Liberty in New York but was more feminine. I thought this church was really interesting but kinda creepy too having all those tombs there.

Le gallerie degli Uffizi

Martedi abbiamo avuti un viaggio al Uffizi. Gli Uffizi e uno del mondo piu vecchi e piu famosi musei. Ci sono molte stanze in questo edifico. Ci sono molto tanto pezzi di arte e sopraffare. Hanno avuti molte pezzi di arte famose. Mi piace Botticelli "Primavera" e "The Birth of Venus". Anche mi piace Caravaggio "Medusa". Piacevole vedere tutto i pezzi di arte famoso.

Il Mio Viaggio a Pisa

Oggi sono andata a Pisa.Il tempo non buono. Le miei amiche e io abbiamo visitato la torretta di Pisa. La torretta e incredibile ma ho pensato e piu grande. Dopo abbiamo camminato intorno per alcuni. Pisa e piccola citta e molto calmo. Mi piace Pisa perche molto bella e quiete.

Mio Giorno a Sienna

Sabato le mie amiche e io siamo andate a Sienna. Abbiamo prenduto l'autobus. C'e un breve viaggio, circa uno ore. Abbiamo camminato intorno la piccola citta. Sienna e molto calmo durante questa tempo dell'anno. Le mie amiche e io abbiamo avuto assaggio di vino. E molto interessante! Ho comprato due bottiglie di vino per portare casa a mia familgia. E un viaggio piacevole.

Galleria Academia

Friday, as a class we went to the Galleria Academia. Here they exhibited Michelangelo's David. I was very excited to see it because its so famous. The sculpture was larger than what I had imagined. Michelangelo started this masterpiece when he was 26 years old. It is made out of white marble and is about twice the size of a human. I cant even imagine how heavy it is or how they transported it from its original location. The size of his hands and head is larger in scale and unproportioned with the rest of his body. Its hard for me to imagine how someone can create something so beautiful and with so much detail out of such a hard material to work with. In the Academia there were also other pieces of artwork that were amazing and I enjoyed viewing.

Field Trip to the Pitti Palace

On January 14th we took a trip to the Pitti Palace with the class. The Pitti family in Florence was owners of this palace and later the Medici family took over. Inside they exhibited artwork from the Baroque and Renaissance eras along with articles of clothing which was a costume exhibit. The Palace was very overwhelming with the ornate and decorative artwork and architecture. I enjoyed seeing the architecture and was very please that they had the different rooms displayed. The artwork wasn't in chronological order but rather how the family would have or had hung it when they lived there.
